Booker Little
Jeremy Pelt and Ralph Alessi played Booker Little’s Fire Waltz the other night and it reminded of this amazing video:
Booker Little, trumpet; Max Roach, drums; Ray Draper, tuba; George Coleman, tenor sax; Art Davis, bass. Not sure of the date on this but believe it’s 1958. Booker Little all of 20 years old.
Update: Oops. Of course Mal Waldron is the composer of Fire Waltz. And here’s a great video of him playing it with Woody Shaw.
