Congrats Dave…

Just because I know he won’t, I wanted to mention that Dave D finished a Toughman triathalon today.  We’re talking a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run all in a row….and he shattered his time goal by over thirty minutes!   To give you an idea of how long something like this takes: I got up this morning around the same time he started, had a leisurely breakfast, ran 8 miles, practiced for 2 hours, drove 1.5 hours to the finish and still had time to find a good spot to cheer him on.  Now, if I can just figure out just how he managed to train for this in between Brass Ecstasy tours, organizing the next wave of the FONT festival, writing, practicing and planning for whatever is next, I think I’d be in good shape..literally!  Kudos Dave….

  2. Wow. Congrats, Dave! I’ve long since given up the triathlons as the balancing act of training for three sports seemed to consume all my waking hours (now I just swim too much!) I’m with Michael, how you manage to fit everything in is a mystery. And a half ironman for good measure

  5. Hey Mike –
Thanks! I love the endurance events…what can I say. Something meditative about it, swimming way out in the Hudson with the sun coming up, leaving my town on the bike to go clear across the county and back, and then running the terrain here that I’ve gotten to know pretty well…

    One thing. Still recovering.

Anyway. See you there next year!

  6. I’m going to give it some serious consideration…..although the swimming part is a little daunting….in the meantime, does “still recovering” mean you don’t want to join me for my long training run this weekend? I mean, I know marathons are a little passé when compared to the triathalon but…
