Do The Math

Ethan Iverson of The Bad Plus blogs at Do The Math. He responded to the thread about post-sixties music with an amazing list of recordings from his jazz collection post-1973. Fantastic work — my hat is off. This kind of list goes a long way toward telling the story of an era many feel is overlooked.

He has also asked for more input:

Some want to contribute more records to the list, which is great.

Send your selections to even_more_records@yahoo.com before September 5th (note_underscores). Be sure to say “anonymous” somewhere in your email if you don’t want your name to appear on Do The Math, otherwise we will out you. If you can, include the year recorded and a sentence or two describing the disc (not required). If you have blogged about this topic and want to be linked, email the same address with the relevant permalink.

This list is clearly skewed toward jazz. But I’d be willing to bet that Ethan could just as easily sit down and list post-classical works from the same period. Perhaps he’s already doing it. Thanks, Ethan!
