Perseus. In which Dave gets to play with four of his heroes. Wadada Leo Smith, Oliver Lake, Fred Frith and Andrew Cyrille. What a dream come true. I’m humbled by these great improvisers—the dynamics in action here are astounding. I loved especially playing with fellow trumpeter Wadada on this session, the call and response both challenging and energizing. Coming around to Perseus (after starting in on Andromeda) feels like a call back to that earlier piece. This is the second to last piece in the series. Thanks for listening.
