So far, this March has been an amazing month for concerts here in Chicago (and we are not even half way through the month). The second half is looking as promising as the first. Here are few to mention:

Tonight, Dave will be playing with the SFJAZZ Collective at Symphony Center. Tickets are still available. Click HERE to see the seating chart and purchase tickets.

And later this month, the New Millennium New Music Series is bringing in some friends of Greenleaf to play free shows at the Claudia Cassidy Theater ( 77 E. Randolph St) in the Chicago Cultural Center.

Saturday, March 22, 1:00pm
Donny McCaslin Group

First, the Donny McCaslin Group is playing on Saturday, March 22nd. As everyone who heard Meaning & Mystery and/or Live at the Jazz Standard knows, Donny is one of most versatile players out there today. And with this tour in support of his last release “In Pursuit,” he brings together an A-list group including David Binney, alto saxophone; Scott Colley, bass; Ben Monder, guitar; Antonio Sanchez, drums; and Pernell Saturnino, percussion.

Thursday, March 27, 7:00 pm
Drew Gress’ 7 Black Butterflies

And on Thurday the 27th, Premonition artist Drew Gress returns to Chicago for a later show at the Cultural Center. This in support of his latest release, The Irrational Numbers. This record and tour, Gress utilizes the same band as on his previous album, 7 Black Butterlies: Ralph Alessi, trumpet; Tim Berne, alto saxophone; Drew Gress, bass, electronics; Tom Rainey, drums; and Craig Taborn, piano. If you haven’t checked out Drew’s new record yet, click HERE to hear samples and get more info.

It doesn’t get much better than this! Come out an support great music.
