Vision Festival

I have not had a lot of time since returning from Banff, and granted I am still recovering…

But I wanted to post this about the Vision Festival before it comes to an end. I went down on Tuesday to see the opening invocation with Joseph Jarman, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Patricia Nicholson, and David Budbill. It was nice to be in the community and hear some great music. I also got to hear two great trumpeters: Roy Campbell and Lewis Barnes in a tribute to Raphe Malik, the great trumpeter and composer who passed away earlier this year.

Sam Rivers Day for Lifetime Achievement is a great idea, long overdue.
Vision runs until Sunday. Go support them if you can.

And thanks for the interesting comments about post-Vietnam War music in America. I will post again about that before too long.
