Wrapping up the U.S. tour

Tonight is our last night for this current US tour. We’re at SFJAZZ and flying to Umea, Sweden tomorrow.

Thanks to all who came out and said hello. I think I’ve learned more about Roscoe Arbuckle and silent film during these past few weeks than during the entire run up to this set of performances. I certainly know these films like the back of my hand now. And they still make me laugh. Every night.

We played a great new performance hall in New Haven, Firehouse 12. Not only is the space unique and historical, but the pizza was off the scale! We’re also thankful to Earshot Jazz in Seattle and OFAM in Eugene, Oregon, for inviting us back. Both of them have great ongoing schedules.

For those who have asked: the dog on the back of the Keystone album is the great Finley, who we adopted from a shelter about a year and a half ago. She’s very eager to get her chops on the trumpet. She’s a puppy of provenance decidedly mixed, and I usually have to hold her back in her desire to get to the mouthpiece …
